About

Keep Rock Island Beautiful plans and implements programs of education and awareness of litter control and recycling activities while promoting pride in Rock Island. We encourage citizens, businesses and organizations to share responsibility for keeping a healthy, safe and beautiful city.

We were founded in 1985 as a grass roots organization called Rock Island Clean and Beautiful. Our name was changed to Keep Rock Island Beautiful on January 10, 2007.

Keep Rock Island Beautiful is an affiliate of the national Keep America Beautiful that works with businesses, schools, neighborhood groups and local governments to develop programs and initiatives for community improvement, recycling and beautification.

Keep Rock Island Beautiful offers educational presentations, recycling and litter prevention programs and presents awards for outstanding efforts by schools, businesses and organizations in beautifying, cleaning and improving the environment. We provide cleanup supplies for neighborhood cleanups and participate in many community events. We partner with Iowa’s Keep Scott County Beautiful for Waste in Place Workshops and Xstream cleanup.
